Festival '17

The ninth annual Over the Mountain Festival program took place at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Bluff Park United Methodist Church. The program was titled "Holy Songs of Joy," and our Guest Clinician was Dr. Thomas Smith, Professor Emeritus of Music from Auburn University. Dr. Smith also served as Clinician in our fifth annual Festival in 2013. Dianne Norton served as Festival Accompanist and Organist.

Festival '17 Soloists

Over the Mountain Festivals was once again pleased to welcome Sadie Frazier Goodman as a guest soloist. A native of Tampa Bay, Florida, she received a bachelor's in vocal performance and masters of music education degrees from Samford University in Birmingham, and in August, 2015 received her doctoral degree in vocal performance from the University of Alabama. Dr. Goodman is a professional chorister and vocal coach at Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham and is an assistant professor of music at Judson College in Marion.

Bass/baritone Ken Thomas is a full-time instructor at Enterprise State Community College (ESCC) where he teaches Musical Theater Workshop, Music Appreciation, and directs the Concert Choir and the Entertainers, the school’s award-winning show choir. Dr. Thomas is a native of Auburn, Alabama, and a graduate of Auburn University where he received a Bachelor Degree in Music Education and a Master Degree in Music Education with Certification in Educational Leadership, and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational leadership with emphasis in Administration of Supervision and Curriculum. With twenty-three years of teaching experience, Dr. Thomas has taught at all levels including elementary, middle, high school, and college.
